Course overview
This course provides the skills necessary to helm and manage a tender carrying passengers/guests/crew in daylight and darkness to and from the Yacht/mother ship. Created by the RYA in combination with the PYA (Professional Yachtsman Association) to focus on Superyacht Crew transferring guests. Minimum age: 17 Duration: 2 days & 1 evening Prior knowledge: Candidates should be competent to the standard of the RYA Powerboat level 2 course (coastal). It is strongly recommended that candidates hold a first aid and VHF/SRC operators certificate Course content: Preparation for sea & pre-departure checks Passenger safety and comfort Day time pilotage Night time pilotage Emergency situations Associated theory Types of tender Legislation and guidance IRPCS (rules of the road) LSA (Life saving apparatus) Boat handling - incl. berthing & docking, Man Overboard recovery by day and night, operating at planing speed, boat control in waves, towing water toys etc Entry Requirements Candidates should be competent to the standard of the RYA Powerboat level 2 course (coastal).
